About ConstructionCalc^tm

ConstructionCalc, Inc. is located in Mt. Vernon, Washington, just north of Seattle. Our founder, Tim Garrison, learned his trade in the field, on the construction site, before becoming a practicing engineer.

ConstructionCalc was born of Tim's frustration with other software brands. He wanted software tools that were fast, easy to use, and that provided lots of alternatives.

In 1995, Tim and his staff wrote Excel spreadsheets for use in Tim’s consulting business. After a few years of in-house trial and refinement, it became clear that these handy software tools could be helpful to many. So in 2000 ConstructionCalc, Inc was created to market and sell them.

"If it's not simple, it won't get used. That truism has been our mantra since day one. We believe that software should provide lots of solutions with very few inputs; that it should be easy to learn and use; and that it should pay for itself on the first job. We deliver. No other brand, at any price, can say that."

Tim has deep roots in the building industry, having spent many years as a carpenter, and later as a contractor. He graduated with honors from California State University Sacramento with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He then earned a master's degree in civil engineering from California State University Fresno.

Tim has been the President of his engineering consulting firm since 1992. He is professionally licensed in California and Washington.

Tim authored the books BASIC STRUCTURAL CONCEPTS FOR THE NON-ENGINEER and CRACKS, SAGS, AND DIMWITS - LESSONS TO BUILD ON, and is the primary instructor for ConstructionCalc's technical seminars.
